Katy Perry Ties Michael Jackson Record on Billboard

Katy Perry and Michael Jackson now officially have one thing in common: They share the record for most Number One singles off of a single album.

Singer Katy Perry has made music history, tying the record for most "Billboard Hot 100" number one singles in one album.

Katy Perry, 26, became the first women and second artist overall to have five separate singles from one album reach number one. Michael Jackson set the original record in 1987 with his album Bad.

When Katy Perry first came on the scene, some dismissed her as a one-hit wonder. Three years later, Katy Perry proven she's a multi-hit wonder, becoming the first woman to score five No. 1 songs from one album on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Katy Perry "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" set the precedent: It's the latest No. 1 from Katy Perry platinum album "Teenage Dream." Only Michael Jackson had five No. 1s from one album before Katy Perry, from "Bad."

But Micheal Jackson spent a total of seven weeks at the top with his "Bad" songs; Katy Perry has been at the top perch now for accumulative 18 weeks.

Katy Perry first major hit was the song "I Kissed a Girl" in 2008.
